Applying T-cut / Scratch X

This method is very similar to the paint cleaning method but a little more pressure is needed when applying the solution.

Before we begin make sure that the paintwork is thoroughly washed and dried.

You will also need an application pad and microfibre cloth along with either a good quality T-Cut or Meguiar's Scratch X.

You may only need to use this on a small area to remove a minor scuff or scratch however you should cover the whole panel to provide an even finish. You may also need to cover all other panels if the car is badly affected with swirl marks. This will provide a more even result as well.

Starting with the worst affected panel, simply add a small amount of T-Cut/ Scratch X to the application pad and apply to the paintwork. Use a little downward pressure and small circular motions to work in the solution. Be sure to cover all areas of the panel evenly. You will need to work quickly before the T-Cut/ Scratch X dries. This is best applied in the cool shade to allow more time before drying.

Once the panel has been completely covered, you will need to remove the T-Cut/ Scratch X residue. Use the microfibre cloth again in circular motions to remove the residue. Fold the cloth every so often to achieve best results.

You can now repeat this on the other bodywork panels if required. You can turn the applicator pad over at various intervals to avoid too much build up of dirt.

Note: If any cleaning cloths or pads are dropped onto the floor then they should be thrown away and replaced. Otherwise you could damage the paintwork with the tiny particles that may have been picked up with the cloth.

Once finished you can go onto the next stage of removing the tar from your wheels.goto - car cleaning equipment
